Having a guide while ziplining in the Colorado Rockies helps ensure a well-organized and well-informed experience, especially in a mountain environment.
Guides provide instruction, equipment fitting, and operational support throughout the tour. They manage braking systems, monitor weather and course conditions, and help keep groups moving smoothly from line to line.
In addition, guides share local knowledge about the surrounding terrain, wildlife, and natural features, adding context to the experience. Their presence allows guests to focus on the activity while navigating the course efficiently and responsibly.
-
Ziplining at elevations above 8,000 feet is a unique mountain experience, and a few considerations can help you prepare:
Higher elevations have thinner air, which may cause some guests to feel shortness of breath or fatigue more quickly than at lower elevations. Taking your time, staying hydrated, and eating beforehand can help support comfort and energy levels.
Mountain weather can change quickly, so it’s important to dress in layers and be prepared for cooler temperatures, wind, or sudden changes in conditions. Closed-toe shoes are required, and sun protection is recommended due to increased sun exposure at elevation.
Physical activity at altitude may feel more demanding, especially during short hikes between ziplines. Guests should plan for moderate physical exertion and follow guide instructions throughout the tour.
Finally, alcohol consumption before the tour is discouraged, and guests should notify staff of any concerns prior to participation. Conditions and experiences may vary depending on weather and individual tolerance to altitude.
-
Bringing layers when ziplining in the Colorado Rockies helps you stay comfortable in a changing mountain environment.
Temperatures can vary throughout the day, especially at higher elevations, and conditions may shift with wind, cloud cover, or shade. While physical activity can feel warm at times, wind exposure on ziplines and time spent at higher elevations can feel cooler between rides.
Layered clothing allows you to adjust easily as conditions change, helping you stay comfortable during check-in, ziplining, and short walks between lines.

Whether a child can ride the zipline independently depends on weight, weather, and operating conditions on the day of the tour.
In general, children who weigh between approximately 70 and 100 pounds may be able to ride some or all ziplines on their own when conditions allow. In other situations, a child may ride in tandem for certain lines and independently on others.
The final determination is made on the day of the tour by the guides, based on multiple factors such as conditions, equipment requirements, and overall group flow. This approach helps ensure an appropriate experience for each participant.
-
Children may ride in tandem with another participant or a guide when needed, provided the minimum individual weight is 40 lbs and the combined tandem weight does not exceed 210 lbs.
Tandem pairings are determined on the day of the tour by the guides, based on factors such as weather, operating conditions, equipment requirements, and group composition. In most cases, children are paired with another child or a guide.
Parents are typically not paired with their child for tandem rides. The final decision on whether tandem riding is required, and how pairings are arranged, is made by the guides to ensure an appropriate experience for all participants.
-
If you’re uncomfortable with heights, that’s okay. The zipline course is designed so that all lines are ground-to-ground, meaning participants start and finish on the ground rather than elevated platforms or towers.
Guests who decide not to participate after arriving are welcome to remain with the group and observe. Please note that non-participation is non-refundable.
While most guests choose to continue once the tour begins, the decision to participate is always up to the individual. Guides provide instruction and support throughout the experience and work to create a comfortable, well-paced environment for participants.
